Poems embraced in the air

May 15, 2020 @ 5:00 pm to 5:15 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

The Literary Group has decided, in these exceptional circumstances in which physical contact is in quarantine, to launch poetry to the networks as a weapon of affection, in the form of verses, in the form of hugs.
FROM MONDAY TO FRIDAY AT 5 PM, we publish a video: someone recites a poem and passes his hug to another person to follow the chain.
Something simple to feed our spirits from sensitivity and to share.

CINEMA: Shôhei Imamura's "The Ballad of Narayama"

May 15, 2020 @ 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

Forgotten movies of yesterday and today

PRESENTS

A special corner for those lovers of the seventh art that have not yet given their soul to the globalization imposed by the current film industry.

José Manuel Fernández Mariscal, coordinator of the section, writes to us: "While this confinement lasts, I will send reviews of films of recognized interest to moviegoers. And although they may have been seen, there is always an excuse to re-watch them.

Health."

Seventh installment:

The ballad of Narayama

by Shôhei Imamura

1983

Original version with Spanish subtitles.

References

Feature film that won the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1983, based on the novel of the same name, written by Shichirō Fukazawa and published in 1956, and on its 1958 film adaptation, directed by Keisuke Kinoshita.

In a small town located at the foot of the Narayama mountain, its inhabitants must retreat to the top of that mountain, as soon as they are seventy years old, to await the moment when death comes to them, since they are not useful for the community and they are a burden on their families.

ATHEO SPOON Recipes

May 18, 2020 @ 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

At the Mairena Athenaeum we understand that gastronomic culture constitutes an important vector of coexistence and socialization.
For this reason, since 2012 we organize lunches to spread healthy eating habits together with the pleasure of sharing a table and conversation between friends. A lunch that any atheneist can attend accompanied by family and friends, to find a space for shared enjoyment around peculiar recipes.
It is THE SPOON OF ATENEO, driven and coordinated by our beloved Pepe Colsa.
The main course is always prepared by atheists with their assistants, although in more than one case also by guests.
These lunches seek to recover popular dishes and recipes from our grandmothers as well as to explore the possibilities of the new cuisine or to venture into exotic dishes, reliving trips and cultures or taking advantage of the visit of friends from other parts of the world.
In 2017, a publication was made with 51 chapters of very diverse recipes that show the scope of LA CUCHARA.
Now we publish some of them, to share our taste for gastronomy. We hope you try them and enjoy them.

Planting our future: THE PREPARATION OF SEEDLINGS

May 18, 2020 @ 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

Welcome and welcome to our “Garden Space”… Relaxing a little with the plants and getting into the garden tasks, we believe that it is encouraging and constructive in these times. From this place we wish you much encouragement!
This week we present two videos that come in handy at this time of the horticultural season, one related to the closing of the winter season and the beginning of the spring season and the other focusing on one of the summer's own crops.
On MONDAY 18 we focused on how to save the seeds from last season and prepare the seedbeds for this new season. Seedbed preparation is a very sensitive process and involves some difficulty; It is easier to start from seedlings for our cultivation. However, the task of saving and later germinating the seeds that we have selected is one of the most beautiful activities in the garden. The video that we present to you explores step by step each one of the actions that we have to take into account in this germination process.
Our intention, you know, is to take advantage of this space to present proposals and possibilities with a view to expanding our training, fostering interest and satisfying our curiosity about this world as natural and close to human reality as orchards are.

Women in History: LA MALIBRÁN

May 19, 2020 @ 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Ateneo facebook page

Documentary about the life and biography of María Felicia García Malibrán (Paris 1808-Manchester 1836) daughter of the great tenor, famous Spanish composer and teacher Manuel García and the Spanish soprano Joaquina Sitges. She, like her sister Paulina Viardot García (Paris 1821-Heidelberger 1918), and her brother Manuel García studied music and were lyrical singers.
Maria became the most famous, admired and loved bel canto diva in the 19th century. Her beauty, personality and her passionate and unfortunate existence influenced to make her a living myth, just as it would happen a century later to María Callas. He died on stage when he was 28 years old. His sister Paulina, on the contrary, lived almost 100 years and after singing a few years she devoted herself to composition and writing theatrical comedies.
In her house in Paris the most important literary and musical figures of her time met. She was a close friend of Chopin, with whom she performed at the piano in London's Covent Garden. The documentary includes dramatization of the lives of the two singers and expert statements on the lives of both.

Encounters with music: CANZONETTES DEL BARROCO INICIAL

May 20, 2020 @ 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

For lovers of the group 'Encounters with music' and for music lovers in general we offer this very interesting compilation made by José Ignacio González, coordinator of the group.
Canzonettes were a genre of Italian popular music. Normally three voices without accompaniment. Its theme was love, erotic or social criticism. It was structured in stanzas and chorus and used to end with a kind of joke or joke. Its origin was probably in Naples.
With the development of Baroque single voice arias with continuous, the canzonettes adapted a accompaniment with continuous bass and were generally reduced to a single voice. Their light character made them more accessible to the public and to amateur musicians, making them very popular. The great composers of the initial Baroque also composed canzonettes: Monteverdi, Marini, Ferrari. They are authentic musical jewels.
We will have:
- CLAUDIO MONTEVERDI (1567-1643).
- BIAGIO MARINI (1597-1665).
- BENEDETTO FERRARI (1603-1681).

Images in the Window: L´ART BRUT by Marie Rose Lortet

May 20, 2020 @ 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

We dedicate this 3rd session on L´ART BRUT, entirely to Marie Rose Lortet for the fond memory that her son, Aurélien Lortet, sculptor of wood, metal and glass, left in September 2010 at the Athenaeum when he told us about this art and what it meant in the life of his mother and his entire family.
Marie Rose, a descendant of the Alsatian family, from her childhood was nourished by the colors of the forests and the orchards of her grandfather who grew vegetables, fruits and flowers, thus inheriting a special sensitivity for all these natural elements at her hand , of shapes and colors.
His entire life was spent between balls of wool, skeins of thread and wires with which to shape his sculptures and other works.

Musicracks: GAUTAMA DEL CAMPO

May 20, 2020 @ 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

We offer you an excerpt from the Concert that our dear friend and great saxophonist, Gautama del Campo gave at the Ateneo de Mairena del Aljarafe on Friday, March 10, 2017.
Accompanying him are: Ezequiel Reina (guitar and voice), Juanmi Guzmán (double bass) and Gero Domínguez (clapping and dancing). A fantastic performance with which we could enjoy good music, singing and dancing.
Gautama del Campo has drawn an imaginary bridge between flamenco, jazz and other root music.
The warm sound of his saxophone, the way of fusing the sounds as a «glissando», charged with emotion, together with a great expressive sensitivity when interpreting captivate the viewer.
The group is made up of essentially flamenco sounds such as the guitar, the cajón and the deep singing; along with others that add clear elements of fusion with other music, such as alto saxophone and double bass.
His experience already has an important journey, which includes his visit to different international festivals such as New Music Seminar in New York (USA), Womad in Bristol (UK), Jazz rally in Dusseldorf, Jazz Festival in Saint Louis (Senegal ), as well as Womad de Cáceres or Festival of Algiers.

Geek's Corner: DOUBLE RENDER EXPERIMENT

May 21, 2020 @ 12:00 pm to 12:15 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

Will you be able to assimilate the quantum nature of reality?
If there is an experiment that reveals how strange the world is ... it is the "Double Slit Experiment".
José Luis Crespo Cepeda, a scientist who makes informative videos on science, offers us a reconstruction of that experiment.
“The physicists that appear here have chosen them arbitrarily. Quantum mechanics really was built by so many great scientists. People like: Max Planck, Niels Bohr, Werner Heisenberg, Louis de Broglie, Arthur Compton, Albert Einstein, Erwin Schrödinger, Max Born, John von Neumann, Paul Dirac, Enrico Fermi, Wolfgang Pauli, Max von Laue, Freeman Dyson, David Hilbert, Wilhelm Wien, Satyendra Nath Bose, Arnold Sommerfeld, Álvaro Ojeda ... "
“A small detail: in reality if you run the experiment and play the game of separating the boxes, when you move them away, the concentrations do not move away, they come together. On the contrary, if you put the boxes together, the concentrations move away. It's somewhat counterintuitive, but it's well explained when you study the interference that occurs. ”

Planting our future: ALL ABOUT TOMATO GROWING

May 21, 2020 @ 7:00 pm to 7:30 pm on the Ateneo facebook page

Welcome and welcome to our “Garden Space”… Relaxing a little with the plants and getting into the garden tasks, we believe that it is encouraging and constructive in these times. From this place we wish you much encouragement!
This week we present two videos that are very useful at this time of the horticultural season, one related to the closing of the winter season and the beginning of the spring season and the other focusing on one of the crops of the summer.
On THURSDAY 21 we focus on tomato cultivation, as a whole, that is, reviewing what happens throughout the plant's growth process. Few videos describe each of the moments of the tomato development in such detail and in such a didactic way and advise on how to act in each one for its good progress. On the other hand, the sensitivity and emotional proximity established by the person who conducts the video with the crop makes this document not only an important source of information but a very positive emotional experience towards the garden.
Our intention, you know, is to take advantage of this space to present proposals and possibilities with a view to expanding our training, fostering interest and satisfying our curiosity about this world as natural and close to human reality as orchards are.
