PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST

"PHOTOGRAPHIC MEETINGS OF PHASE 1 OF THE DESCALADA

( MAY 11 TO 25, 2020)

DISCOVER OUR HERITAGE, ITS PEOPLE, OUR STREETS.

From the Ateneo de Jerez we want to encourage our atheists, friends and citizens in general to participate in the photography contest that we present below.

On Monday, May 11, Phase 1 of de-escalation begins and we will have more freedom of action, although we must continue to respect the protection measures given by the government.

We want you to photograph our heritage, our streets or intimate moments that you see on your daily walk. It is about discovering our city, how the "de-escalation" is developing, immortalizing the moment that you like or attracts you the most, the one that catches your attention while you walk and "stretch your legs".

You can send the photos to info@ateneodejerez.es . They have to be carried out from May 11 to 25. Send them with a brief review the name of the author or pseudonym you want to appear.

We will share it on our social networks (Faceboo, Website, etc.). Once the date has passed, the Jury composed of members of the Photography Section of the Athenaeum will announce the winners of this contest. The photos will be exposed on our social networks.

The winners will be able to collect their prize on the Day of the Atheist. You will receive one of the paintings from the exhibition "Duquelas de mi queré", signed by its author, the Jerez photographer Fco. Javier Ramírez "Cachi".

Workshop-Exhibition "The Ghost Books"

Brushstrokes of love for books

Brushstrokes of love for books. The title that Francisco Jordi gave to his workshop corresponds perfectly to what we live at the Athenaeum. Paco arrived with his suitcase, worn by time, very much in keeping with the content: books that the passing of the centuries has failed to destroy the beauty and trade behind each one. His ancestors are an example of love for printed letters and he, proudly, shows whoever is interested that treasure that he keeps and protects with his knowledge of the techniques of bookbinding and the affection with which he cares for that family legacy.

TRAINING AND DEBATE SECTION

CONFERENCE: "JEREZANOS EN CAMPOS NAZIS"

Very well received with a well-documented work by Bartolomé Benítez Reyes at the Ateneo de Jerez where he aroused great interest about the Jerezanos in Campos Nazis. The consequences suffered by those Spaniards who lost the war and as such a representation of stateless Jerezanos who did not have the recognition of the Francoist government that abandoned them. It is time to recognize and vindicate these figures in order to strengthen the democratic memory of our city, after the long silence of the families for fear of reprisals.
