PABLO GARCIA BAENA

He was born in Córdoba in 1923 and died in Córdoba in 2018. He attended the Hermanos López Diéguez School there, he did his baccalaureate at the French School with the Marist Brothers and at the Colegio de la Asunción. He studied Painting and Art History at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Arts Mateo Inurria de Córdoba where he became friends with the painter Ginés de Liébana, and begins to read in the Provincial Library where he meets the poet Juan Bernier who introduced him to the world of literature and poetry.

He spent his childhood and youth in Cordoba where he began to write in newspapers and founded with other friends the Cántico Group, possibly the most relevant post-war period. He traveled throughout the Mediterranean (which for him extended to Florida and New York) and returned to settle in Malaga and Benalmádena cultivating an Andalusian that never left.

He was a master in the use of verse and the word, combining the sensuality and depth of the word in a language of precise technical perfection that make it the clearest vehicle for the transmission of his teachers to current generations.

Mariló Berdun, has a degree in Hispanic Philology.
