Ateneos de Andalucia Associations Almodovar del Río Córdoba

Cycle "Euro-Mediterranean Tribune"

23/04/2018

The Ateneo de Málaga inaugurates next Friday April 27, 2018 a new plural forum for debate on international issues that concern, in the first instance, the Euro-Mediterranean space: economy, security and defense, justice, migrations. The current processes of globalization have an evident incidence in the political, economic and financial decisions; also in the diversity of cultures of the world before the threats of powers with hegemonic pretension and control of new zones of influence, even going so far as to call into question multipolarity and multilateralism.

All these new facts suggest that a new Cold War is re-entering with new and old actors, together with demographic estimates that considerably alter the scenarios that have been known in the past. The mafias of organized crime are also globalized: trafficking in human beings, weapons, drugs, currency, organs, strategic minerals, fake or low-intensity medicines, animals and flora, with a disturbing backdrop: the globalization of terrorisms, in particular, of jihadist terrorism.
One of the consequences of these events is found in the rethinking of international relations and new alliances between sovereign States, as well as international or regional cooperation mechanisms, including the urgent cooperation for the development of poor countries. The horizon of our Forum will go beyond the Two Shores of the Mediterranean.

TRIBUNA EUROMEDITERRÁNEA, sponsored in this first stage by the Málaga Foundation, will be directed by Francisco Carrillo Montesinos, former Representative / Ambassador of UNESCO / UN, within the framework of the Vocation of Citizen Participation of the Ateneo de Málaga. Its first cycle responds to the following programming:

Friday, April 27, 2018 : SPAIN IN THE EUROMEDITERRANEAN SPACE, by Carlos Espinosa de los Monteros, High Commissioner for the Spain Brand and State Commercial Technician.

Tuesday May 8, 2018: SECURITY AND DEFENSE IN A RARE WORLD, by Rubén García Servet, Lieutenant General of the Air Force, Commander of the South Air Operations Center of NATO, Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Political Science and Sociology.

Thursday June 14, 2018: THE FIGHT AGAINST CORRUPTION: THE NEED FOR A EUROPEAN RESPONSE, by Jesús García Calderón, Prosecutor of the Superior Court of Justice of Andalusia and Director of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Granada.

Friday September 21, 2018: THE QUESTION OF IMMIGRATION IN EUROPE: THE IBERIAN SINGULARITY, by Jaime Lanaspa Gatnau, Patron of the "La Caixa" Foundation and President of the Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI).

The conferences, in principle, will have a monthly periodicity under the sign of a volunteer management. They will take place in the Assembly Hall of the Ateneo de Málaga, at 7:30 p.m., Calle Compañía, 2 (corner of Plaza de la Constitución).
