COL·LECCIÓ MUSEOGRÀFICA FUNDACIÓ COSME BAUÇÀ

The museum collection Fundació Cosme Bauçà was established following Msgr. Cosme Bauçà's will (Felanitx, 1871-1959) to convert his house (called Es Molí d'en Bono) into a museum and a library, and to spread the history and culture of Felanitx in particular and Mallorca in general. That is why, in the same year that he died, he bequeathed his house and a large part of his possessions (works of art, books and manuscripts) to the town of Felanitx, in order for his initiative to become reality.

The most important collection of Sa Fundació is the ethnographic one, which comprises kitchen utensils, agricultural equipment, as well as tools and instruments of different professions. In addition, a small coin collection and a prehistoric section are worth mentioning, which also include the collections of Miquel Bordoy and Andreu Vidal. The exhibition features a collection of unique objects from around the world, mostly made of ivory and meticulously handcrafted. There you can see African sculptures, small figures of Hindu gods, Japanese netsukes and also figures of the traditional Mallorcan nativity scenes.

The library, with a total of 5,526 catalogued works, comprises manuscripts and books about Felanitx and Mallorca. You can also view several collections of local and foreign press.
