Scattered hamlet on the right of the road to Manacor, about 3 km from Felanitx, comprising part of the Primera Volta area from the road to Portocolom. The name was taken from the former estate of Son Proenç (1506).

In 1793, the Can Ros Oratory was built, consecrated to Saint John the Baptist. A school was inaugurated in 1934, and the Can Ros and Son Proença Vicarage founded in 1938. The school and the vicarage do not longer exist.

In 1995, the Son Proenç estates and the Son Proenç fountain were developed from the rural estate called Son Proenç Vell.
